I got a PET CT (as a pre test for clinical trial) 6 weeks after surgery, a parotidectomy and right neck dissection.
PET CT report is in and it absolutely confirms to hypermetobolic nodes.
I sent it to my surgeon at City Of Hope and she called directly to my cell today with a plan to get me in next week to start to prep for surgery.
My melenoma onc is at the conf and I will try to talk to him this week to make sure this is the plan to have surgery.
Report, both PET and CT both showed a sclerotic focus on my right humerus. not sure what to think about that.
Matt

I'm sorry for this distressing news, Mat. I'm sure it must have felt like a real kick in the stomach to you. But if you possibly have lymph node involvement, thank God that the PET CT found it so early and that you and your doctors already have a plan for getting those nodes out of there. Then you can get back to preparing for the clinical trial. Try no to be too bummed out– you're winning these skirmishes!

re: the sclerotic focus — I know I had some of this on a PET scan last year, which turned out to be bone turnover after a fall I'd had the year prior. Nothing to do with the melanoma. So I hope for something similar for you.
Nothing like more surgery after you've just recovered from surgery ๐
All the best.

Shoot. I was so hoping that was just from surgical inflammation and such. Glad it has been spotted right away and is being dealt with so very quickly. I am very sorry, and can only imagine how disappointing and frustrating at the cusp of trial entrance– BUT, the good news is that the trials will await you once this has been removed, so you can move forward with that. One step at a time. One step.
