My daughter had a punch biopsy yesterday.  Does anyone know how long it takes to get results.

      Thank you.

It largely depends on where they send it for testing.  Also, it might depend on if this is an initial biopsy or if they have a second test.  When I had my initial biopsy determining melanoma, my dermatologist got an initial result, but sent it to another lab to confirm it.  That turned out to be a good idea, because the hospital I was treated at did not need any further testing before starting treatment.  So that one took me about three weeks to get the results.

Every subsequent biopsy has taken 3 to 5 days.

I'd call if you don't hear anything within a week.

Both my punch biopsy and my shave biopsy were back within 4 days of collection.
