So i have this mole… Very small mole the tip of a pen covers it small…. Well it's like a brown with what looks to be some black in it which totally feeaks me out… My mom had a derm appt today and I went with her as it was her first one … I showed my mole to the derm and she said that it looks okay but to keep and eye on it.. She said it looked more brown then black… Well I go to see her in February and obviously I'm going to keep an eye on it and if it changes in any way I'll make an appointment …. But I am a little scared … Any advice?

Take a picture. If it changes, have it removed. If it doesn't, it's not hurting you. I have many moles that have one or more atypical factors, but as long as they are stable, they are staying put. Remember, most never have more than one primary…
if you ask a question on a melanoma board, however, most will say when in doubt, cut it out. I'm not a fan of unnecessary biopsies so I have baseline photos that are used for comparison and CHANGE decides what stays and what goes. I prefer using the independent eye photos provide as opposed to imagination and anxiety and panic. Photos changed my perspective and anxiety levels significantly. Just saying.

Thanks janner…. Yes I did snap a picture of it and like I said I compaired it to things so I know if it starts changing or growing considering that it is so so small …. Now even if it does start changing and growing will it or can it be in situ or would it be already in the skin

Changing moles don't have to be melanoma at all, they can just be atypical. I've had several removed that were atypical and changing. Don't imagine the worst, and remember most melanoma is actually slow growing. Something changes rapidly, call your doc. But otherwise, don't panic before there is anything to really worry about.
