      Sorry for asking such a dumb question but when does the count start for the survival statistics? Does it start on discovery, diagnosis, once declared NED or some other criteria?

          Likely from diagnosis, as that is the point that they have determined that you have melanoma.

          Don't get caught up in the statistics you see online, though, they are almost all terribly out of date.   Data from even three of four years ago isn't valid any longer, as more and more people receive the current treatments.   The outlook is much much better than it was just 5 years ago (and less).
