Severe body rash after5 days on full dose Zelboraf. Stopped x 1week, resumed half dose. Rash continued, low grade temp., swollen knuckles. Had to stop again. Anyone had similar experience? Able to stay on Zelboraf? Anyone try prednisone or other treatment? Thanks in advance, Jean

I was on a reduced dose of Zel – 6 pills a day, plus prednisone for rash and many other side effects. Got a year out of it this way.

Some studies have shown that combining a BRAF inhibitor like Zelboraf with a MEK inhibitor reduces a number of side effects, including rash.  You may want to speak with your doctor about this.  A MEK inhibitor was approved by the FDA a few days ago, under the trade name Mekinist.

I have been on 4 times 4 tablets per day for almost 3 months. For about a month I had severe joint pain.

I soon realized that the pain came  from stressing a joint-Normally it would not have caused pain but my super charged

immune system over reacted.. I move carefully in the house –no scrubbing the floor on hands and knees.I no longer lift

toddlers or heavy boxes. The past few weeks I have felt fairly normal–my hands are still swollen some and I do not

do repetitious tasks with them(no peeling potatoes)  I feel  I am getting used  to the zelboraf which was a little

scarey. However,my dermatologist said the medicine was still working and you did not have to continually suffer

for it to be effective. So  treat your body kindly and maybe the side effects will lessen.
