To those who are as spam-averse as I am, this is not spam. It is a social media public-service campaign.
Nick Auden is an otherwise healthy young man with a wife and 3 small children. He has been fighting Stage IV melanoma since 2011. He was accepted into the BMS anti-PD1 trial in July but then excluded that same day for "health reasons" (presumably brain mets, but he doesn't say).
The Auden family and their friends have launched a social media campaign (Facebook, Twitter, email, etc) to petition BMS to give Nick anti-PD1 on a compassionate use basis. That is what this is all about.

This is such a sad story. This is going to be an uphill battle for Nick because so many people are in the same boat as NICK. Gosh, there are people on this blog that are in the same situation with families that are desparate.
Merck & BMS have not granted anyone compassionate use of their PD1 drugs and more than likely will not because their drugs are not far along the approval process with the FDA.
If anything, we need more people besides Nick to get petitions going so that MERCK & BMS will not refuse thousands of melanoma patients compassionate use. It is just too easy for Merck & BMS to refuse just one man, Nick.
The reality of getting FDA approval for promising drugs is too long a process and this is just business as usual for Merck & BMS!

I agree with this very sad statement. I signed the petition though. I think it needs to be a prominent story on tv or a newspaper like the New York Times or the Washington post. I know that Peter Whoriskey at the Washington post has written stories on pharmaceutical companies. I hope and pray that this works out for the family!-

Hi I was just having a look through your blog as my husband is hopefully starting on the anti pd1 phase 3 trial in Sept. Sounds like you continue to have great results – I am sure your positive attitude also helps π
All the best x

We don’t have many details at all – apart from what the onc told us, and he mentioned it was either anti pd1 or ipi. And I possibly recall him saying there was a cross over option if he got ipi. Just gotta tick all the boxes – hopefully all goes smoothly π -
