scans showed today that some sharnk some grew and some new ones. Dr doesn’t want to wait. For next scan wants to start zelboraf. Also going to do 5 radiation treatments on tumor under arm. I’m confused he said this scan would show growth before we had it. Says he’s afraid if he waits ippi might not work but even though we doing zelboraf ippi might still work.
Feeling pretty bad at this point. Does any one know anything about zelboraf?I’m still prayi
ng for God to open doors.

Sorry to hear about those bad scans – hate this disease….
My son started Zelboraf on March 30th after IL2 failed. He was pretty sick (couldn't eat without throwing up, had trouble walking due to spine met, and was exhausted and sleeping a lot). I think it is a miracle drug – he started feeling better right away. He was playing baseball with his little boy 3 days after his first dose. Minimal side effects. Keep praying – those doors will open.
Take care,
Bridgette (Jeff's Mom)

Sorry to hear about husband.
Zelboraf works quickly and is a good option right now, in most people they have a partial response and the average durability is 6 months.
My dad is still on Zelboraf after 6 months but its starting to loose its effectiveness unfortunately so we need to look at another plan.
The key of this drug is that it can shrink tumors and give relief so if your oncologist is recommending it…go for it. In the meantime have another plan of attack.
All the best,

My husband started zelboraf in September and he had such wonderful shrinkage in all areas of tumor burden on his scan results in December that all of his doctors called it a miracle. The only effects he had was dry/itchy patches of skin, complete exhaustion and joint pain. The joint pain would move, it wasn't necessarily in the same places but just continually achey.
