Ok couple questions.
have you had your melanoma removed…Wide Local Excision etc?
any detils on your elanoma …depth etc.
as for the SNB it should be an outpatient….maybe a 1night in hospital.
they will do a tracer in first and basically put a dye in lymph system t site of mole and then the first node it hits is the node they remove to check.
no real side effects depends on the surgery really and how it is done….nothing is basic or routine…but this is soooo importnt becuse it helps determine the spread of melanoma.

Matt thanks for your response!
it hasn't been removed all the way yet… They just took the other side of my melanoma off yesterday to biopsy it more…it is 0.987 thick almost the recommended depth to have the sentinel node so basically I am borderline and have to have it done in order for them to learn more about it since it's rare in my age group.
i have it on the bottom of my leg on my shin so they will be checking my lymphnodes in my groin area !

Hi!
had mine on the rear part of my lower leg and for me it was day surgery. I went in at 8:00 for the radioactive dye injection …. a little uncomfortable as the dye burns, but definitely bearable! The surgery was at 11:30 and I was on my way home that afternoon. It took about a week for the results. I had a post-op seroma, but other than that, no issues at all. Hope that helps!
