      My brain MRI was about 4 weeks ago. I just got the results in writing and reading through them I noticed something interesting. 

      First, of course, it states that there is no evidence of metastatic disease. 

      Under that it states that there is a 4mm left parietal calvarial nodule adjacent to the lambdoid suture most suggestive of a post sutural epermoid though setting follow up of stability may be warranted.

      I'm guessing this is from the insicion on my scalp from the melanoma removal?   

      My surgeon didn't tell me about this, so I'm guessing she didn't feel it was a problem. But should I ask about it to get more information?  I don't think I will be getting another MRI for quite a while since I haven't even started immunotherapy yet. I meet with the medical oncologist tomorrow. Maybe I'll ask her. Just my anxiety hanging out over here.

          Yes, it is probably from your scalp incision. If anything suspicious was seen, your onc would have mentioned it. Definitely ask her about it anyway, just to ease your anxiety. A lot of places don't do regular brain MRIs, usually you get one at this point and then some places do brain MRIs once a year and other places, like where I go, only do brain MRIs when they see something suspicious on CT scan or symptoms warrant it. Just so ya know 🙂

                  I was told I'd be having one every 6 months for two years. Maybe since it was on my scalp?  Idk. Im just doing what they tell me to do I guess. Im still so uneducated on this.

                        Oh yeah, could be different protocol for head/scalp mel. Makes sense.

                            I believe mri should be done every 6 months for sure. If something does come up it is so much better to catch it early. I pushed my onc for mri and he always put in for them when I asked. The last time he didn’t think I needed it but agreed…3 brain mets showed up.
