Well like my local doc says everyone is different. For me I just had some mild rash, itching and a little bit of stomach churning so I pretty much didn't have any side affects worth noting. Also my local doc said it is usually after the 2nd dose that I would notice anything.
They told me if I had anything lasting more than 24 hours to call. So make sure you have their number to call even after hours.
You might also want to take special note of any severe stomach pains or dark tarry stools is what they told me. For those I think they wanted me to call right away but I didn't have it.
Good luck.

Hi! I did have to stop Yervoy after 3 treatments because of worsening diarrhea…..be sure your wife reports colon problems if they start, as they can get out of hand. Many do not have any problems at all…..I wish the very best for your wife…..they say that side effects after the first infusion are rare.

My husband took IPI abut 2 years ago for stage 3 Melanoma. He was on a study so I think the dosage was higher than what your wife will take. He did fine with his first dose but the second dose made him very sick and have to be hospitalized. Im not saying this to scare you just for you to watch out for the diarrhea that other ppl are talking about. She can get very sick very fast with stomach problems. Other than the stomach problems his other side effects were minimal. I hope everything goes great for her just keep an eye on the stomach and let her doc know at the first sign of problems.

Hi,
I had two 4 infusion series of Yervoy and found the drug very tolerable. I did have some minor itching, worse the second time around but a topical creme prescribed by the Dr eased that. I had some minor intestinal issues but OTC Imodium got me back on track quickly. It is critical to monitor your body for any reaction and inform your Oncologist immediatly so they can react and counter any issues that arise. I had a script for steroids ready in the event of an escalation of the intestinal distress. Although I did have to eventually have the tumor removed surgically the pathology report showed 90% of it was already dead likely from the Yervoy and the simultaneous SRS radiation treatment I had so it appears I was a responder to one or both to some degree. I wish your wife all the best and am hopefull her experience is as easy as mine was.

I just finished my second round of IPPY. So far, itching has been my biggest side effect, which has been controlled with topical treatment and claritin.
I was concerend about the stomach issues especially because I have a sensitive stomach, but, so far, I have not had any issues.
Compared to interfron, this has been a great experience. Good luck to your wife—and to you.
