I had a subq nodule removed today from my wle incision that was three years ago. Previous stage two nodular melanoma. Today the sample was very deep and growing downward much more than we expected. The derm commented over and over how hard it was. Like rock hard like bone.

Anyone rememeber or know what theirs felt like after biopsy? Was the sample hard or soft?  Any characteristics you could share? It looked a lot like my initial removal but I don't remember them saying it was hard or anything like that before. Can't find any article on what melanoma feels like when it is removed.

      Thanks

          Hi Mandy,

Yes, melanoma tumors are very hard.  I've had a bunch of sub-Q's.  Removed surgically, via radiation, and some as a result of immunotherapy.  I currently have two that are necrotic, and remain rock-hard.

My subq nodules were firm but not rock hard.  They didn't say anything about the tissue when they did the biopsy.  The waiting is the hardest part.  I hope the news is good.

          Sending good thoughts,

          Jennifer

Thanks both of you for the input.  My derm is very professional and no matter how I tried to get her "what do you really think" opinion she wouldn't come out with one. She basically said we will know when the path comes back. I have googled every which of a way I can think of to find characteristics of a melanoma tumor after excision and can't find anything AT all which is odd to me. It felt hard from my skin but I had no clue it was so deep and as hard as it was.

So I guess it's just the ole waiting game which everyone on here knows is crippling.

              Thanks again.
