Hi all,I’ve searched this forum and couldn’t find anything posted on this topic, so apologies if I overlooked something.
I have been using sunscreen since 1982, when I was diagnosed with lupus. The pharmacy used to have to special order it in SPF45 because you just couldn’t find such sunscreens – but you could find loads of sun tanning oils!
A melanoma diagnosis in 2016 came as a bit of a shock, but did make me realize I’d become rather lax about coating myself in sunscreen, which I now do religiously. However, EVERYTHING I touch is stained with sunscreen. This includes my car seat, my purse, my shoes, our kitchen table.
Are there any high-quality, effective sunscreens out there that don’t stain?
Or, are there any cleaners that get sunscreen off of leather, wood, etc.?
We rented a car last month for a long weekend. I wore shorts and sunscreen the whole time. When we turned the car in, the passenger seat wher I sat was a whole shade lighter thanks to the white sunscreen stains.
Thanks all!

I use Neutrogena SPF60+ for sensitive skin and am not aware of stains. Before I apply it to my face and neck, I tie back my hair. Then, I let the skin dry before putting on a scarf, hat, etc. For reapplication when I’m out and about, I use a sunscreen stick. Good luck!-

Thank you! I live in London, where we don’t get Neutrogena, so I stock up at Target when I visit my family in the US. I asked my dermo here in London what the best sunscreen was and she said Neutrogena. How do you feel about the sunscreen sticks? I love them, but do question whether I’m getting enough coverage – they just glide on to effortlessly!

To be honest, your best defense in not getting sunscreen on the seat of a car while wearing shorts would be to put a towel down on the seat before you sit down on it. There are some tips for cleaning sunscreen off leather and wood here: https://www.cleaninginstitute.org/cleaning-tips/cleaning-schedule/fun-sun/removing-sunscreen. You may need to open a new window or tab and then copy/paste that link into the space provided. I don’t see an option here to provide a link for you.Another option would be to invest in some UPF clothing. The advantage to that is you use less sunscreen. Right now I have on a pair of lightweight UPF capris that are perfect for the heat wave we have going on right now.

I love Supergoop products. They are pricey but worth it. Amazon Prime had them on sale during their Prime days on the 15th and 16th so I stocked up. -

I struggled with the same problem! Then I found Trader Joe’s sunscreen. It is amazing! I am a Stage IV survivor and I also have a 4 and 6 year old. Sunscreen is a part of our daily routine (reapplied many times throughout the day). I live in rural North Dakota and we don’t even have a TJ in our state. When we drive by one in another state, I buy a basket full. I hope this helps.Ashley
