Sorry for the TMI, first of all. I'm not all about talking about my poop

i had my 2nd ipi treatment yesterday. I woke up in the middle of the night with some abdominal cramping. I drank some pepto and went back to bed. This morning after another couple bouts of cramping, I had a mainly normal BM, but there was some mucus in it. Now I had another moment of cramping with the feeling of urgency, but I got nothing but a tiny bit of mucus. My doc said to call if I have more than 3 loose stools in 24 hours. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent this from turning in to something serious?  I take a probiotic every morning. But I'm afraid of taking too much pepto or Imodium because I have IBS with constipation. Do I risk the constipation to avoid the diarrhea?  Or just bite the bullet and call my nurse and give her a forewarning?

      Thanks for any advise.

I have had days where I've had loose stools a couple of times or once or even three times. It never got further than that so there was no concern about it being or turning into colitis. We will still get regular stomach issues that would occur without the Ipi and just be related to something we ate or other things. It may not be caused by the Ipi at all. Maybe it is but it's quite minor right now. I don't know if there is much you can do, I would not suggest taking a lot of imodium either, especially if you're not actually having diarrhea. Just see where your body takes you with this, try not to eat anything that would normally cause you upset. Hopefully it just passes and it's nothing.

          Take care,

HI, I would not worry but I would call or email your nurse or doctor so that they are aware.

I had diarrhea a couple of weeks after my first ipi infusion, unfortunatelly this stopped me from a second infusion, and fhen i developed more serious side effects (i was not in any pain because of these, they were detected frim blood work)

The diarrhea was cured fairly easily by a BRAT diet plus immodium for a couple of days and then changing my diet away from salad and drinking much less coffee, and I started to eat meat.

But my point is that your nurse or doctor need to know so that they can keep an eye on you in case of side effects and potentially more serious side effects (which can be avoided or contained I think as long as your medical team know what is happening to you).

we are all different. i was hoping to be like jennunicorn and take all the infusions. i was responsible but it turned out i reacted quite quickly so had to stop ipi because of side effects. i think your medical team needs fo know, then they can deicde and make sure you avoid bad side effects.

No need to worry but i would tell your team and take their advice

                good luck
