      Hello Everybody,

There hasn't been anything going on with me lately, so I've not been around much. But last week I got the call from NIH that my cells are ready for transfer.

Dr. Shindorf told me that my melanin cells weren't "sticky" (her word) enough for them to do the newer protocol they had been looking at for me. But she said my cells grew well and are reactive, and so they are ready to do the bulk TIL transfer.

I go to NIH to be admitted on Monday evening (3/19). I'll get scans and have a tunneled catheter inserted, and then on Friday 3/23 I'll be starting the chemo preparatory routine. The cell infusion is scheduled for Friday 3/26.

I'll provide updates as things go if and when I feel well enough to do so.

      -Bill

Thanks! I'm hoping this will be the magic bullet.

Good luck, Bill. I'm new on the forum (husband has melanoma, 3C, about ready to go into a study). Just wanted to say if you're not from the area and have to travel to NIH and need anything at all or have questions about the area, send me a message. We used to live near NIH, now are in northern Virginia, and could get over that way, just would prefer in between rush hours. (If you know DC/MD/VA you understand.)

Same from me Bill – good luck. I live in NW DC (but work during the day) so can pop up to NIH if you need company or other stuff you might like me to bring. Best wishes Mark

Thanks Beth and Mark. I'm from Delaware so I'm not going to be like 1,000,000 miles from home. 🙂 In fact, I figure I'm going to be in the DC area at a time (around Easter) when a lot of you are going to be over here. LOL

My wife is planning on being there with me most of the time, but I also wouldn't object to meeting anyone else from this board if either of you would like to drop by at some point. I figure I'm going to feel pretty crappy the first couple of weeks (chemo, then cell transfer with IL-2) but as I recover after that I'd probably be up for some company.

Thanks Celeste. I plan on giving those cells a pep talk before they go in to tell them that I need them to step up and do their duty!

Thanks Carol. I will try to keep everybody posted. If I'm not feeling well enough I'll have my wife post updates.

Bill, best wishes for good (preferably great) results.  When I was diagnosed Stage IV, TIL at NIH was my first choice (didn't qualify based on progression).  Very promising.

So what was the trial they were considering for “sticky” TIL? Wishing you great luck, was glad to connect a few months ago when going over tx options!
