Hi folksI’m hoping some of you can offer some thoughts on a recent discovery of a mole.
I was looking at a rash on my ribs last week. The rash looks like excema is goes and away and comes back in the same spot but have never been a big issue. Anyway when I was looking at it I noticed a mole that caught my attention. The mole is just above the rash. The reason it caught my attention is that some of it is dark brown very slightly raise not even 1mm and the rest is pale. Its never itched or gave me any bother whatsoever. I wasn’t sure if it was new so I looked at a holiday photo with my top off from last June (14 months ago) and it looks exactly the same size and colour. So it could be 10 years old for all I know. I took a photo with the skin app that assesses the patterns and colour of moles and it said low risk
I’ve been reading stuff online and of course I’ve got myself dead and buried I’ve had a really bad week struggling to think about anything else. I’ve got a doctors appointment on Thursday it can’t come quick enough. So my questions are,,
Has anyone else has anything like this that wasn’t cancer?
Are all miles like this cancerous?
Is it a good sign that the mole hasn’t changed in over a year?
Is the skin app reliable to a point?
Any other thoughts and advice would be much appreciated
Thank you all in advance
Sean

From what I’ve seen melanoma could change dramatically after years and would totally be noticable. But I completely understand your worry, and it’s a good thing to check with the dermatologist for peace of mind. Also, I’ve never heard of a melanoma being smaller then 1mm but I have heard that melanoma moles smaller then 2mm are nearly 100% curable. But still, I highly doubt that it is. But other then that. Sometimes being too worrying about cancer is worse then cancer itself.-

Also I found this “Malignant tumors are overgrowths of abnormal cells (cancer) that divide without control and order. They do not stop growing, even when they come into contact with nearby cells. As malignant tumors grow, they squeeze surrounding healthy tissue and prevent their normal function.”
