Hey gang…Met with my Dr. this morning to finalize my agreement to enter the new trial. Although I had a recent scan, it misses by one day of being acceptable for this trial. Hoping to start week after next…around the 12th.
Discussed problems with my stomach. The thought is that met is growing and continuing to push on my stomach causing things to back up…making it hard to swallow some times. The thing that seems to help is walking around right after eating and eat smaller meals more often. That's not helping me put back the 30 lbs. I have lost…really sagging jeans and no body fat to help stay warm in the North Country. I'm lighter now than I was in high school…some people would be happy as the dickens to be able to say that.
The bottom line is to find a way to reduce the size of the mets. I should know by the end of January if this trial works. I'm still in the fight as long as I have options!

Hey Nick, Glad to hear that you are in the fight and wishing you the best experience in this trial and hoping it works quickly and thoroughly. Keeping fingers-crossed 🙂 I'm sure you have already been doing this, but is there any super high caloric/vitam food you could supplement with, I know my mom could tolerate creamed spinach throughout the day when she was doing chemotherapy.

Sorry about the scan issue. It is one of the frustrating things about trials!!! Anyhow, glad you have a plan. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and a rapid response. On the weight front…hey! If creamed spinach lacks a certain appeal….how bout hot fudge sundaes or loads of holiday egg nog??!!!! Hang in there! Celeste

Thanks to all of you for you kind words and encouragement. Scan is scheduled for next Friday…have to wait 28 days between scans for insurance purposes. AS of now, it looks like the 12th is the jump off date. Infusions will be an hour long followed by 4 hr. observation. Will get an infusion every 3 weeks. Have been told that we should see results in a relatively short period of time. I will be in the trial a minimum of 6 weeks. Works out that this will not interfere with Christmas week…family will be home that week.
Again, thanks and I will keep you posted. Nick

Hey Nick, Hang in there brother, you'll get this started soon! Like Celeste was saying, man what a great excuse to indulge in some high calorie delicious food that otherwise you might avoid. I'm with her on the hot fudge sunday, maybe on a regular basis! Take care man and keep us up to speed on how things are going.
Warrior On!

I've had a similar issue with my stomach and have lost 20 lbs. I found that using Life Extension brand Esophageal Guardian chewable tablets (lozanges-natural berry flavour) helped tremendously. I used to use them several times per day and after 2-3 weeks I tappered off and now don't need them however I now carry them with me just in case everywhere. I've also changed my diet to include more vegetables and juicing including starting the day with well cooked oatmeal and always well cooked/roasted vegetables for other meals in order to provide soft bulk which is easily digested. Check out the Gerson Cancer Diet and even if you don't follow the entire diet follow few main priniciples such as always eating either raw or well cooked veggies including potaoes but no half cooked stuff. Now after 2-3 weeks, I can eat as many tomatoes, onions and other acid producing foods without any issues. My GI Dr, put me on two Omeprazole and one Zantac tablet per day. I said no way, there is got to be a better way. I've always felt that my stomach issues were related to my liver melanoma masses and I was correct. I would supplement with small amounts of lean meats (chicken, turkey, fish), avoid fried foods, highly processed foods as well as pop. but do add rich smoothies with skyr Icelandic yoghurt (Siggi's brand high in protein), avocados and other nutricious stuff. If you are juicing or eating raw vegetables always have an apple, especially a Granny Smith since they are high in pectin and malic acid which help digest raw food. The difference is unbelievable and seen almost immediately. I hope this helps you as much as it helped me.
