I am sorry for what you are dealing with, Winterrothj. You seem to have melanoma with an "unknown primary". I would also assume that your docs have told you that you have Stage IV melanoma. I have been athletic, never a sun worshiper, ate all the veggies, never smoked…etc, etc…my entire life but progressed from a primary melanoma lesion in 2003 to Stage IV melanoma with brain and lung mets in 2010. Melanoma does not play fair. That said, with the revolution in melanoma treatment that has taken place since 2011, you are not without hope! You will need to make sure you have no melanoma lesions elsewhere. I would encourage you to seek the care of a melanoma specialist. Learn whether your melanoma is BRAF positive. And then….pick your treatment option. Here is a primer I put together that you may find helpful: https://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2017/08/melanoma-intel-primer-for-current.html
This board is populated by well informed and incredibly caring melanoma peeps. Ask more questions as you need. Hang in there. You can do this. By the way, despite my Stage IV diagnosis in 2010 – after treatment with immunotherapy from 2010 to June of 2013…..I remain NED (no evidence of disease [there's a list of acronyms and their defiitions at the end of the link I gave you]) with no further treatment. I wish you my best. Celeste
