So this morning I had an appointment at Blue Ridge Cancer Care with Dr. Mertin. She is so great! I told her all about how my cancer was diagnosed and she was shocked I’ve had to wait so long to start treatment. So she has me scheduled for a PET scan since it’s been 3 months. Then next Thursday I have an appointment with her PA to talk about treatment side effects. The week after I have a surgery consult to get the rest of my left arm lymph nodes out. This is the progress I should have gotten months ago and I’m not planning on returning to UVA. Praise God for good doctors! So this morning I had an appointment at Blue Ridge Cancer Care with Dr. Mertin. She is so great! I am so happy you found a doctor that is responsive to you. Did the new doctor ask for slides of the orginal melanoma? That seems to be pretty standard practice to verify dx. Also did she go over again that both having a complete lymph node disection and taking interferon are choices? These are probably all things you have heard before but she should be going over them again.
Good Luck

Yes…to all your questions. Monday I’m going to pick up a cd of the slides and bring them to my appointment, and she knows I’ve already chosen interferon and surgery. So far I really like her. Thank you for your support Mary! -
