I have a mole on the sole of my foot. It appeared around 18 months ago but recently it became really itchy. When I looked it had changed, it appears to have grown legs! I went to see my doctor last Saturday, who referred me to a Dermatologist. They rang Monday and booked me in for Wednesday. I received a letter from my doctor with advise on 'cancer referral' – oh he didn't mention that!

Anyway, I went to the dermatologist who had a look through the scope and photographed the mole, he spent about a minute looking at it and then said it will need to be removed. The nurse said I would receive an appointment 2-4 weeks through the post. I got a call today (Thursday) to go in tomorrow to have it removed (Friday)

sounds silly but but this has me worried now the speed of it all! Should I be worried??

I am by no mean an expert. However I had a "mole" grow on the top of my foot from nothing to stage 1 melanoma in less then 10 months no big deal. They cut it out taking wide margin. Then you are good to go with skin checks about every 3 months at the doctor. Here is what I have learned from my experience. ANY mole on feet should be checked if not biopsied. But moles on the bottom of the feet should not be ignored because "the sun don't shine there".

Really any mole anywhere on your body that grows or changes should be checked by a dermatologist and never ignore or put off for later.

I hope it comes back nothing. Waiting for the biopsy results is the worse part took over 3 weeks for my results. So try not to stress about it. Try not to google to much information because it's a lot off the worse case stories sometimes.  But there are some great people on here that will give you some really great advice.

          Best of luck

          Cynthia

              Thank you

it's gone anyway – and I feel a lot better about it now it's not there. Foot is killing me today. 4 stitches and aching like mad. But the hospital where really good and kind nurses. Doc didn't really say much other than the colours in it. So I'm pretty sure it'll come back normal x

Hello Lydia and everyone. I agree FEET should never have moles and foot moles have a history of metastasis.

my primary in Nov 2007 was a pencil point size mole on the top of my foot.

As a mother of twin 4 year olds, at the time, I immediately had it removed- wide margin and skin graft, sentinel node biopsy, PET/CT follow up Twice. All was clear. Other than being stressed out, it was nbd – was back running races in 6 weeks.

9 years later, I was told my 5+ month misdiagnosed running injury, was actually a plum size melanoma tumor in my foot and the PET/CT revealed 4 large tumors in the same leg, &  lymph nodes on the right and left hips with melanoma.

Please be vigilant! I did my research, visited 5 hospitals and chose to start with Keytruda- it had the least side effects of my options and allowed me to continue my active, executive, traveling, competitive athlete, uber mom, life as-is.

after 2 months I had a complete response and am NED. Merck's $$$$$ assistance program is great too!  Please let me know if I may assist you in any way.

                Much health,

                Andrea

Awww thank you so much! I'm a runner too and have a run in Manchester in 4 weeks so hoping my foot is ok for then! I'm in the UK (only realised this isn't a U.K. Site after I posted, but hey ho we still need the support right?) so yea we have the NHS and I must say I can't fault it thus far. Absolutely brilliant.

sorry to hear of your issues, I have a 4 year old who is bouncing off the walls as I've not been able to take her out. Going to try today. Pass me the pain killers lol

I will certainly let you all know the results-I only got worried when they wanted to whip it off within a week! But they may have just had space – I dunno

Hi Lydia- please keep me posted! Frustrating to take a running break, and Keytruda makes my joints and large muscles ache.
