I’ll start off up front that I’m no expert on pathology. I’m curious as to what type of biopsy was performed. My case is nearly identical. I’m scheduled for my wle and slnb next week. In my case there was only a shave biopsy performed and that’s why they couldn’t get an accurate measurement of depth. My margins weren’t clear in any direction in the biopsy, although I show signs of regression throughout the sampled tissue. Otherwise nearly identical results. It looks like your melanoma is coming from a mole that didn’t start out bad. That’s why there’s a mixed result. Your biopsy shows both a regular (or atypical) mole and melanoma cells. My question really is why your pathology report states no ulceration yet has it listed as 1b… I wish you the best. Remember there’s many of us here going through this and many more who have already been here done that. My motto right now is there’s nothing to worry about, until it’s time to worry. Just stay positive. -

Thanks janner. I was hoping you'd respond. I haven't seen the pathology report myself yet. I'll get a copy next week at my visit. After this I have 1 mole I'm already suspicious of that needs to be checked. It's small but meets all the abcde criteria. Although it hasn't changed much in the past month. It's located next to my first primary (you had commented on a previous post about this already). I'm also possibly looking to have my scar fixed due to a large "dog ear" from the flap closure. Basically they gave me an ugly nipple on my back. Oh and its .88mm deep. I mistyped it at .8

Ultimately I guess it's going to depend on your surgeons schedule. From what I can tell it looks like most of us on average wait somewhere around 4-6 weeks from diagnosis until slnb and wle are performed. In my case I visited my derm Nov 30th. The diagnosis was made by Dec 7th. I had my initial meeting with my surgeon Dec 11 and it was then over a month before my surgery. I had my slnb and wle Jan 13th. I'm now again playing the waiting game to hear the results from that.

Allow me to clarify. I was taken to the nuecular medicine lab where I was injected and scanned in a machine somewhat resembling a ct scanner. I was then taken into surgery. I was under total anesthesia at that point. The wle and failed slnb were performed at the same time. I was asleep so I’ll only assume the slnb was attempted first. This happened Wednesday the 13th so I have no pathology back yet. I have a follow up appointment a week from today. -
