I am by no mean an expert. However I had a "mole" grow on the top of my foot from nothing to stage 1 melanoma in less then 10 months no big deal. They cut it out taking wide margin. Then you are good to go with skin checks about every 3 months at the doctor. Here is what I have learned from my experience. ANY mole on feet should be checked if not biopsied. But moles on the bottom of the feet should not be ignored because "the sun don't shine there".
Really any mole anywhere on your body that grows or changes should be checked by a dermatologist and never ignore or put off for later.
I hope it comes back nothing. Waiting for the biopsy results is the worse part took over 3 weeks for my results. So try not to stress about it. Try not to google to much information because it's a lot off the worse case stories sometimes. But there are some great people on here that will give you some really great advice.
Best of luck

Sorry you are going through this I just had this done on the top of my left foot on January 7 done by a surgical oncologist and a plastic surgeon closed the wound. I was very lucky to not have to have a skin graft. I was told I would have to have one prior to going in for surgery. I'm only stage 1a so I didn't have to have a sentinel lymph node biopsy. I would be happy to talk to you on the phone to tell you about the recovery time and what to expect from the surgery. With it being on the foot it's not like a typical recovery. My email is [email protected]. If you email your cell or phone number I'll call you to talk. My phone number Area code is 856 so you will know it's me calling.

Ok this may sound stupid but I'm only stage 1a from a spot on the top of my foot. The primary was about and inch or so from my big toe. I've been having pain in the joint and it feels as if the second toe joint is hurting also. It hurts to walk sometimes and at night. I really feel that my mobility is limited in the big toe joint. This has been going on for over two months. What's the chances of such a low stage going to the foot bones? I should say also the spot on my foot came up from nothing to melanoma in less then 10 months. I thinking maybe I should get an X-ray but I don't want to look paranoid.

I was diagnosed with stage 1a melanoma on the top of my left foot in November. I had a wide excision on my foot done by a surgical oncologist at the cancer institute in NJ. He had a plastic surgeon close the wound and was able to close it with the flap method. I went under planning on having a skin graft. Very happy to not have a skin graft. I had the surgery done on January 7. I was able to walk out of the hospital the same day. Thought this is great. Next day I crawled to the bathroom. Couldn't put weight on it. I spent a week in bed with my foot above my heart to keep swelling down. 10 days after had 4 of the 40 stitches out. The rest dissolve. Three weeks after surgery tomorrow I can walk short distances around house without a cane. Long distance need a cane. Foot still swells and hurts by night. I keep it up as much as I can during the day. I go back to plastic surgeon for 4 week post op next Thursday.
Don't know if this helps. BTW I am 46. And use to do classical ballet in my twenties. I have had many surgeries including one on my other foot. So I'm have a high pain tolerance. I NEVER want to do this type of surgery again. I don't know if I had the same thing you are having since mine was already diagnosed with a shaved biopsy at a dermatologist. Who referred me to the cancer hospital. You can email me I can send you photos or give you my cell if you want more information. [email protected]
