Thank you all so much for replying and your support. It is extremely comforting to know I have a place to come to with so many wonderful and caring people. I try to stay positive but it's so hard when you have to face things like this alone. Thank you all again and God bless you.

Well I was diagnosed with melanoma type 1T. It was removed in August. The lesion was discovered on the femoral neck of my right leg where goes into hip. The lesion in my left was not there last year but was discovered after the melanoma was removed on my shoulder during ultrasound and was called a 1.3 cm cyst from August to now has grown to 1.7 cm and it was classified as a Bosniak type llF. They also found precancerous polyps in my colon.  I’ve always had testing in the past due to my back, but these things just seemed to appear.  I know once you’ve had melanoma you are up tp 50% more likely to develop a secondary cancer.  I’m just scared to wait a year to find out that it ended up being cancer and could have been caught earlier.

Got nothing but to keep an eye on it and if doesn’t change to call back for follow up. I see a dermatologist on the 17th and will definitely have him look at it. It can be a little overwhelming at times, now tests that used to be typical aren’t any longer.  Had MRI and because I had cancer, they now have to use a dye at the end to check for any lesions or signs that cancer hasn’t spread.

              Thanks everyone,

I saw 2 nurses today and one seemed concerned and the other said it looked ok but was a little surprised when it had been 3 weeks since procedure and was still leaking. Life in the VA…lol.  It’s just been hard ever since the melanoma diagnosis. I’m now dealing with a kidney lesion, bone lesion and opacities in both lungs and several other strange moles. I’m meeting with an actual dermatologist on the 17th to have those addressed.

Thanks Jenn I will.  I know scars aren’t pretty to begin with but this one is purplish and ugly. I’ll be going in tomorrow to have surgeon check it. I use the VA and was never discharged with any aftercare instructions on wound care so I just left strips on for week and half. It’s just strange when you push on it there is nothing under the skin.

I'm doing my best. Just a little scary. I have so many other moles, it's funny that before being diagnosed I never looked at my moles and now I look at every one. I never knew I had so many atypical moles, at least 100 from head to waist.  Not all of them are big, but there are several about the size of a pencil eraser.  Some with black dots in them, some that are raised and hurt.  I guess we'll see what comes of them.  Thank you for your support. It's nice to have a place to come to.

Thank you for responding. The report doesn't state any of those facts. I'm trying to get in sooner but with the VA it doesn't always work.
