Hi JustMeInCA,
I hope you're able to get on the cannabis oil soon. I have seen some early positive results with my father, stage 4, with a decrease in pain, increase in appetite and full rest. He was taken off all pain meds and steroids by his second week of dosing the oil.
He was taking combo too and estimated that his main tumor in his lymph node under his right arm shrank about 50 percent in under a month.
Strange plot twist now is my mom and dad let the cat out of the bag in regards to him using the c.o. to doctor and as I predicted to them he flipped. The dr basically told my father to stop taking c.o. because it is not proven and that it could prevent the uptake of the drugs and inflame his liver. I am no doctor but I believe in my gut that he overreacted in his assessment. My father didn't however and has now decided to take a break from the herbal remedy.
I am worried because the effects of b raf inhibitors are relatively short lived and that my dad will not have taken enough c.o. to make a difference by the time cancer comes raging back.
Anyway, just thought I would let you know our experience. I am so happy that you have a doctor who is pragmatic in his thinking.
Best to you in your journey.

Hi Gina,
I have no doubt that it is the C.O. that is keeping Rudy alive and thriving! Congratulations to you guys. My father is going through a rocky time right now after a month of some intial success with the Combo. I may have mentioned in another comment to you that he was ordered to lay off the Combo because of elevated liver function numbers.
Since being off for about two weeks his tumor has almost grown back to the point where it was before we started any treatment. We are also worried it is spreading internally.
We also have been steadily dosing him with C.O. since early October but nothing near a gram a day as he is already knocked out 75% of the day.
Did you go through any rocky times like this during his treatment? Did you adjust your doses of C.O. to try to get results sooner or did you cruise at a certain amount?
Is there a light at the end of the tunnel for him? I may be too close to this but I am deeply concerned that his liver has been damaged beyond repair and that we cannot continue with any drugs and have impaired him to a point that the C.O. cannot and will never work like it is supposed to.
We thought after shrinking the tumor about 50% we would start the cannabis oil and have them work in conjunction over the next several months until he reached NED status. We were so wrong! This cancer game has been so fickle, I would laugh if I weren't too busy crying. We so badly want the happy ending you have.
Please help with any advice.
Best regards to you and your loved ones– ESPECIALLY RUDY!

My father is stage 4 with primary in lymph under his right arm and mets on the liver) is on it. He was diagnosed in July. Started Ipi, switched to Combo in late Sept and has currently been ordered to take a break to allow his liver to heal. Been on the cannabis oil since early Oct. I pray it will help.

Hi Rick,
My father's liver function numbers were abnormally high. Apparently they were in the 500s when they should be in the 100s. I don't know which or if all of the liver function numbers were high. That's how they were interpreted to me. Doctor said this was a potential side effect of the drug and that he had patients who had to lay off for two to three week stints before.
My father was on Taf/Mek from 9/25 until 10/28. Two 75 mg pills of Tafinlar twice a day and one 2 mg tablet of Mekinist once per day.
The medicines seemed to have been working until we found out about his liver function. Now we are waiting for the liver to get better (hopefully it does soon!) because his tumor is coming back with a vengance (only about 13 days off the drugs).
He has been on about 0.14 grams of cannabis oil per day for about a week now and lesser amounts per day since 10/4. Hard to increase the dose because he is already fatigued and traumatized physically, psychologically and emotionally.
Big appointment with the oncologist on Wednesday.
By the way, along with the liver inflammation, he also has kidney stones and a stent which will hopefully be removed on Friday.
He has had flu like symptoms the past four days, his tumor increasing from a soft egg to a hard fist, reducing his arm's range of motion significantly. Needless to say we are very worried.
