My mom was first diagnosed and treated before immunotherapy was readily available for people with metastatic melanoma. She was cancer free for over a year, or so we thought. After a car accident, she was seen by doctors at the ER for spinal pain. X-rays came back showing cancerous lesions in her spine. Further tests showed the cancer had also spread to her lungs, liver, spleen, adrenal gland, and her mediastinal, mesenteric and inguinal lymph nodes. We are in the midst of a very emotional and intense journey. Forever grateful for her amazing team of doctors.
