Hello Alicia,
I am very sorry about your friend, and I hope that soon everything will get better.
The only thing I can add to the previous comments is that maybe your friend should explore such treatment method as Virotherapy, because it might do good on your friend`s immune system, and it is said to be particularly effective in shrinking the tumors if combined with other treatment methods.
Well, but that is just my suggestion.
Take care and I wish a soon recovery to your friend!

Hi all,
I come from Latvia; therefore, I have heard quite a lot about this treatment.
I have to say that I am surprised that it is something new to US, because here this treatment has been popular for some time now. Our media is informing us frequently about the conferences the oncologists attend in order to speak about Virotherapy in detail. If I remember one article I read correctly then Latvian center is currently working with 28 countries worldwide.
Here is something about its export: http://www.baltic-course.com/eng/good_for_business/?doc=44019 As far as I understand, FDA is being particularly slow in researching this treatment. Shame for them!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Maybe I will be able to find some other articles in english.
Kind regards,
Hereiam

Hi ,
I am very sorry about your current situation, and I truly hope that your wife will do better soon. I agree to others, that Jerry`s post about Virotherapy seemed promising. Maybe the decrease of the side-effects is the most important goal for your wife right now.
Take care,

Hi sss,
I am very sorry to hear such news. And I truly hope all the treatment you are prescribed will work for you just fine!
No matter how controversial this following option might seem in this forum, I will still try to bring it to you: if you`re concerned whether the whole treatment will influence your ability to work or spend a quality time with your family, you might want to explore virotherapy in order to reduce potentional side-effects and improve immune system so that you would respond to the chemo/radio better.
Well, that`s just my suggestion.
Take care!

Dear Karolina,
It is understandable, that you are scared to have melanoma as your friend recently got it, but a lat of people every day are diagnosed to have a melanoma. And a lot of people are diagnosed with various other diseases. It cannot prevent you from normal life, cuz otherwise you`ll have to live in fear all the time!
I agree that moles should be photographed, as this is one of the most reasonable ways how to monitore them, but I disagree with the opinion that you should do monthly skin check-ups. It is done for melanoma patiens, not for healthy people! Once a year is enough and very advisable.
So be cautious, but not obsessed with this.
Take care.
