Hey guys again sorry…cant sleep had one more q.There is a chance that the cancer might only be confined to the borders of the mole removed. However, the gp who did the mole removal via punch biopsy did not get all of the mole, as there are outlines of some of the mole still ontop of the skin. I am worried that in the healing process of the punch biospy the borders of this mole are now open and worried about spreading…does this make sense?

Thank you for all the replies. No one ever thinks that they are going to be in this position until it happens to you, then it is a total shock. The waiting is the hardest part, you want all the test and everything done instantly but it takes a while, especially in Canada.
To Barb, we are located in Oshawa Ontario. so far we have appointments with a surgeon three weeks away and a derm 2 months away.
To Janner, did you end up getting a SNB done after your removal?
Thanks everyone.

It was on a completly different part of the body.
"Bartholan gland cysts are common, can become infected and cause pain and discomfort. Sound familiar?"
and those symptoms describe what she feels so yes it is an inflammed Bartholan gland cyst.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Going to run her course of antibotics, than all will be good. Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone for the info. Contacted both surgeons and their secretaries told me that they are only doing the WLE and not the setinal node check/dye test, which is frusterating…they didnt seem to understand that it has to be done before hand, they just said we can see an oncologist after…i wish Janner was her doc -

Hi Celeste, thank you for your input. "It is unlikely your fiancé would have a positive sentinel node"
This was attached to your link which suggest otherwise. Especially because she has many of the risk factors:mitiotic rate 1, Clark IV, under 40…
not trying to be a negative nancy but I've never been so scared. I am trying to be there for her, and be her rock but the thought of anything happening to this girl, has sent me in a downward spiral. I am doing everything I can, but news just keeps getting worse….her initial biopsy now looks infected….which means no surgeon will touch it until cleared.

I haven't gotten a chance to talk to the surgeon..only our family doc who knows very little about melanoma. As mentioned, She has an appointment two weeks away with the surgeon to get it cut, but I don't want to wait that long only to show up for the appointment and be told we are not getting the node biopsy done…suggestions? I doubt a surgeon would take a call from me

Thank you for your response Niki. This was the intiial punch biospy…in my tiredness last night i forgot that it said on the biospy " Melanoma extends to lateral border at situ"… which I take it means there is more melanoma on the surface of the site…is that correct? Its so hard to get any answers as I felt I was more informed about than the general practicioner….and in Canada it is a long wait to see a specialist who does have some answers.
