        Hi there,

Firstly, I am really sorry to hear about this. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Melanoma on my ankle last month, and thankfully after a 2nd procedure it is all gone!

I asked my cancer specialist nurse to explain a little about it to me, this is what is said…

The most important prognostic indicator is the thickness 'Breslow thickness' of the tumour removed. There was no cell division, thats good and no ulceration, also good. The Breslow thickness was 0.45 mm, under 1mm is good too. This is similar to what you have said above, so hopefully that is a bit of reassurance.

        I hope all goes well

          Hi there,

I understand exactly how you're feeling, as I had a biopsy just before christmas. The waiting process is horrible. My mole looked irregular to me, two different colours & raised and unfortunately I was Diagnosed with Stage 1 Melanoma in January, and following this I had to have more skin removed from my ankle. Thankfully it is all gone..

However, a girl in my work had a biopsy done of a mole on her arm that looked a lot more suspect than mine did. It was large, raised and black. It was originally pink and changed quite quickly in colour. The results from her biopsy showed that it was benign & that there was nothing to worry about.

I hope the outcome of your biopsy is good!
