I’m 47 years old and was diagnosed with a stage 1a melanoma in September 2015. Somehow, two dermatologists (one was a NP) didn’t notice this mole even after I had been seen at least 4-5 times (8 biopsied moles in March, 2 excisions, 1 lipoma removed, 2 more moles biopsied) from March 2015 until my GYNECOLOGIST mentioned it in August 2015. Thank GOD she did. Otherwise it would have been another six months before I would have seen my dermatologist again and who knows how much worse my diagnosis would have been by then. I’m so thankful to my gynecologist for paying attention.
