I am a 61 year old woman. I noticed a mass and swelling under my right arm the first part of Aug 2016. Went for an ultrasound -and mammo and was told it was a hematoma even though there had been no trauma or injury. After working my way to a diff set of docs, I had another ultrasound and doc said he recommended needle biopsy because he was concerned about the underlying cells. Biopsy revealed malignant melanoma. Since have had petscan, MRI on brain and head and neck, biopsy on tongue (hotspot showed up there but no melanoma) and mass removed under arm. Waiting for final grade and stage and treatment plan. This melanoma did not show up externally, just internal under my right arm. So strange but now after reading so much, I know that I am not the only one.
