Thank you everyone for your replies. I am sorry that you have had to endure this terrible disease, but your stories have given us inspiration and hope. My Dad is expecting some side effects from the drugs, but I hope with our love and support and the support of medical staff at the treatment centre he can get through it.

Hi Mike, thank you for the support, it means a lot. I’m taking comfort from the fact that the inflammation is no worse and I’m hoping that tomorrow’s treatment will start turning things around for him.

Hi Paul, thank you for your reply. Because the liver inflammation seems to be related to the cancer rather than the immune response, I’m not sure if more steroids will work. Unfortunately there was no change in the inflammation when he was taking them. Although saying this the consultant has prescribed more steroids for after his next course of treatment. I’m wondering if these are just to control the immunotherapy side effects.

Hi Mark, thank you for the reassurance regarding the decision. I will ask my parents to query whether my Dad is BRAF positive at their treatment appointment tomorrow. It’s definitely worth a shot.

Hi MelanomaMike, thank you for your response, it’s much appreciated. I’m sorry to hear of the effect the drugs had on your pituitary and adrenal glands. It does sound like you had a very difficult time while going through immunotherapy. It does give us some hope that you were able to continue despite the set backs. I truly hope that this will be the case for my Dad. Thank you for the good wishes! I wish you all the very best too.

Hi Celeste, thank you for your response and for the article link. I’ve had a quick read and I’m assuming/hoping that the liver inflammation is not too bad as my Dad has been prescribed only a short course of steroids and is booked in for further treatment next week. It does give us some comfort that perhaps this is just a bump in the road.

                  All the best, Lou

                    Hi Mark,

Many thanks for your reply, it’s much appreciated. I’m sorry to hear your inflammation was more severe, but it’s very encouraging to hear that they got it under control and you recommenced and responded to treatment.

Hi Judy, thank you so much for your response. I’m so pleased your husband has been NED for 7 years. Your story has really lifted our spirits. Do you have any advice for coping with this journey and anything my Dad can do to improve his outcome? We have looked into diet changes, lots of fresh vegetables, protein and yogurts, but we can’t really think what else to do.

I will look at your husband’s journey. Thank you again x
