Bio

I’m of mainly Scandinavian/Northern European ancestry, with a splash of Greek from my grandmother. I have fair skin and a few freckles on my forearms and calves but only the occasional freckle elsewhere. Not many moles either. I don’t burn too easily but it’s been known to happen on occasion; the worst I recall in my early 20s after a day life-guarding.

I spent my childhood and early adulthood in northern Illinois and enjoyed the brief summers in the sun, but (almost) always with sunscreen. I visited sun beds in my early 20s – to get a “base tan” for a tropical trip or help with my acne. Gah! If only I’d been smarter.

I now live at 8,000′ in Mammoth Lakes, CA with my amazing husband and cute fuzzy black cat, Ninja. I’ve been given my wake-up call with this diagnosis, and am ready to make the needed lifestyle changes to ensure I grow old with the love of my life.
