She was perfectly fine with no symptoms until 2 weeks ago, when her right arm stopped working and her speech was delayed at dinner. The emergency room discovered 3 hemorrhagic metastasis in the brain, as well as a few lesions in the lung. The initial thought was the lung was the primary.
Dr Dalkilic (neurosurgeon) wanted to do biopsy on lung but she declined rapidly in 12 hours and so an emergency craniotomy/brain surgery was performed to remove the biggest tumor which was in her left frontal lobe, leaving the smaller tumors, 1 in the temporal lobe and 1 in the parietal lobe.
She was recovering and improving every day. We received the biopsy pathology report which told us the primary was in fact melanoma.
She was being treated with steroids (Dex) to keep the swelling down and a radiation oncologist was called. Her condition declined and a new CT scan was done, showing the tumors had grown.
The radiation oncologist says she is ineligible. The molecular oncologist says she is ineligible – both because she is too unwell and unstable to receive or cope with any treatment.
Even though it is a specific tumor that is swelling and causing the decline, the Neurosurgeon says he recommends against any further surgery as he cannot guarantee the benefits outweigh the risks. He boosted her steroids with additional Manatol which has lessened the swelling and improved her condition. She is aware again and talking (with delayed speech).
We are also firm believers in Cannabis treatment and are currently giving her CBD oil at the Dr’s consent.
Right now, it seems there is nothing more any medical people can do or will do (maybe surgery but only if it is absolute emergency and at least 2 surgeons agree to it). So, we are trying to keep her aware and healthy enough for the Cannabis treatment to work.
