My husband also developed the non stop hiccups. He had to get meds from the doctor to stop them! I can’t recall the name of the medicine but I am sure your husband’s doctor can prescribe something. It wasn’t until after the second round of opdivo/yervoy that we saw a big difference in the size of his tumors. He made it through the third round but then had to stop because of the side effects. He ended up losing close to fifty pounds. He was on a three month schedule for scans until March of this year. After the scan in March and there were no new tumors he was able to wait six months for the next scan.
I know your struggle-I know your fear. This message board has helped me a great deal. Look for posts from Bubbles-she has so much knowledge and information. Look for post from Melanoma Mike-he can keep your spirits up even in his discomfort!
        Hang in there,

          Sharon,
I am so very happy for you! My husband started treatment around the same time you did and made it through three of the four….had to stop because of side effects. At that time he decided on no more treatment of any kind. CT scans every three months have been good. After the scan last April, his oncologist said the could wait six months for the next one. I am somewhat uneasy about that but trying to stay calm. Is that even possible in the melanoma world?!
So thankful for this forum and people like you!

You know on top of all we are going through at the moment, I really don’t believe you had to throw in “What a silly question”.
It was devastating and actually shocking for him to lose a job after twenty years through no fault of his own. I make a meager salary and the premiums will cut into it sharply.
I was just asking for what others thought, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised about anyone’s comments.
And by the way, I guess I wasn’t clear—-he has many scans over the last few years that were NED —not just the last one.

My husband has been seeing Dr. Cowey (melanoma specialist) at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. since Feb. 2017—–Not that far from Tyler!

I am hoping in the next few weeks he changes his mind and has the scan so I can have peace of mind!

Yes, it's great to know that even though he didn't receive the last scheduled treatment and refused anything else, his scans are still showing treatment is continuing to work.  And six months seems so far away!

Hoping for the best for your husband….
