A native of Greenville, South Carolina, I know live with my wife and five cats on 25 acres near Lexington, South Carolina. My wife, Joy, is my soul mate. She is an English teacher at a Catholic school.

I’m an alumnus of Clemson University, and went to graduate school at the University of South Carolina. For 30 years I worked in newspapers in the Carolinas but was caught up in the industry’s difficulties. I was laid off in November 2009, and have not found another job.

I’m 61 years old.
